There are many things that we can do to create healthy habits that allow us to lead more positive daily lives.

The most important is who we surround ourselves with. The people in our inner circle have a direct impact on the environment of our lives.

If you have negative people around you either cut ties or distance yourself. I know it may seem harsh, but it really is absolutely crucial to the quality of your life.

Community: With that said, having a community that you feel connected to and supported by is crucial to mental wellness. Even if you are an introvert, you can still benefit from having a small group of people you know you can rely on.

Exercise: I think it’s fair to say that we all know how beneficial exercise is for the mind, body, & soul. Yet, many people don’t realize how switching up your workout routine can help keep you interested & motivated in so you don’t get bored of your fitness routine. For instance, if you go on a walk every day, try switching up the paths you take. This variations help prevent a healthy routinely habit from becoming mundane.

Food: Did you know that eating clean & healthy not only effects your body, but can have an impact on your mood?

Here is a list of foods known to boost your mood & energy:

  • Fatty fish like Salmon are high in Omega-3 fatty acids, which may lower your risk of depression.

  • Dark chocolate is rich in compounds that may increase feel-good chemicals in your brain.

  • Since up to 90% of your body’s Serotonin is produced in your gut, a healthy gut may correspond to a good mood. Fermented foods like yogurt & kombucha are rich in probiotics that support gut health.

Healthy habits: We are all creatures of habit, even if the habit is to not have a habit haha. Jokes aside, having a routine that incorporates daily healthy habits gives us structure and having structure in our lives helps us feel stable.

Switching it up: Studies have shown that constantly changing what we do & keeping variety in our lives helps keep things spicy. Humans crave routine with a bit novelty to keeps things interesting.

Practice things in your life that bring you positivity & put you in a positive mindset, but don’t be hard on yourself.

Being positive isn’t something we are, it’s something we do.
